It won’t be long until the temperatures start dropping. The Fifteen Degrees quilt by Freckled Whimsey uses the Creative Grids 15° Triangle Ruler. Since 24 pieces cut at 15 degrees equals a full square this block really has a lot of potential.
Because this quilt is fat quarter friendly, select a fat quarter bundle that is bright and cheerful and start sewing. We used fabric from Nancy Halverson’s newest Christmas collection. Add in a background color and you’re off and sewing! These blocks finish 16 inches square.
When using the 15 Degree Triangle Ruler by Creative Grids there is little to no waste as you cut triangles from each side of your pieced strip sets.
Though these blocks look like they are wheels or circles they really have straight edges. There is no curved stitching anywhere in this quilt. Blocks are squared up into an octagon and then triangles are pieced into the corners.
If you like this quilt, kits will be available while we can still get this fabric. Patterns are also sold separately.
